Becoming a Blogger

I am a newfound stay-at-home mom and part-time pediatric nurse. The story of my transition is a long one so that'll have to be a different post. After working full-time as a peds nurse for over 11 years, it has been a HUGE transition for me. Staying at home is not as easy as it sounds. I've always been an on-the-go person and this 'career change', though not by choice, has been rewarding in some ways. After over six months, I decided to become a blogger. I think this opportunity fell into my lap-or maybe it is just a way to keep myself from going insane while at home. I'm not quite sure how I decided to try to become a blogger. I joined several different product review websites, such as BzzAgent, Crowdtap, Influenster, Smiley 360 and ExpoTV, and found that in order to really participate and qualify for more products, it's helpful to have a 'blogspot'. Although helpful, it's also SO confusing. I found that since I was already a Google + member- even though I rarely used it, the easiest way to set up a blog for me was to start at Google. It was very simple starting my blog--until all of the logistics came into play. You have so much to choose from--how do you want your page to look to would you like ads to appear and everything in between. I'm a simple gal -nothing flashy - so I decided that less was better for me. After finally figuring all of that out, I had a writer's block. What exactly am I supposed to write about? I remember in school (a very long time ago), the teacher basically picked the subject and I wrote the body. Those were the simple days-now, when critical thinking comes into play while I have little ones yelling 'momma' all around me, I'm suddenly at a loss for words (or thoughts). I recently became a new member of two exciting websites-Tomoson and BrandBackers- where I get a chance to receive products for free in return for giving my unbiased, real opinion. Though this is not a career, it's nice to have this opportunity. I've written a few blogs about products I've tried and this is a nice way to get my feet wet. Please be patient as I slowly delve into the world of blogs. I have so much to learn. Hopefully like age, I'll just get better with time.
