It can be used orally, rectally as well as under the armpit. Compared to other digital thermometers, this is very well made. I like that it has a flexible tip. It makes it more comfortable for use- especially when using it on my little ones. It's also waterproof which is nice. I love that it only takes 15 seconds for a reading. this makes it perfect for taking temperatures on squirmy, irritable kids. I've compared the readings and this is an accurate thermometer. The color is also very cute. Overall, this is a nice, durable thermometer. Very happy with it.
